Food for the Body & Soul

by Debbie Geiger

At the Village Spa in Roslyn, where the chocolate kiss wrap follows the peppermint patty salt rub, owner Rick Joseph says the enveloping aroma is what keeps people coming back for more. "They don't focus so much on what is on their body," he notes. It's not the feeling; it's the smell. If we put mud or seaweed (on them), it's either odorless or smells bad. There is an excitement from just knowing that they are doing something different. Some people have an obsession with chocolate but they do not want to eat it anymore. In a way, they feel they can substitute it with the aroma."
