Spa Review-
A Gem is Found

In the shadow of the Roslyn clock tower lies a hidden gem-an
intimate and charming day spa where candlelight massage is the
order of the day.
As you enter…your host, owner Rick Joseph greets you
with warmth and a generous amount of information about what
to expect and how to enjoy the experience.
There is a refreshing lack of attitude here.
You are escorted to your private suite where the aroma of scented
candles and the sounds of natural environments take you away.
As a couple, you are introduced to the two professional massage
therapists that will be kneading and soothing your bodies for
the next hour. Your host, Rick, takes the time to show you all
the available amenities in the suite, that include: private
steam/shower, (with piped in music), lush bathrobes, audio and
visual systems for your personal selection-and elegantly set
table for two at which you will be enjoying your dinner later
in the evening.
The massage follows and what a surprise! The quality of the
massage was among the best we’ve had. Far better than
one
would expect from a local day spa-better still than some of
the more expensive well-known spas. The two therapists focused
on the individuals, with no more or less conversation
than we encouraged-and with great touch that felt professional
yet not mechanical. We both agreed that the massages were fantastic.
The therapists then left us alone to enjoy the surroundings,
a steam shower, relaxing foot bath and warm neck roll. We sat
at the table, sipped wine and perused the select dinner menu
from the Jolly Fisherman, right next door. Dinner was served
by a tuxedoed waiter and we ate by candlelight, in our robes.
Dessert and tea were served and we were again left alone to
relax and talk. (For those who choose-the media selections include
cable TV, DVDs, audio CDs-even a PC with high speed web access
for those e-mail junkies out there.)
As our session ended, we were again escorted by Rick who seemed
to be very sincere in wanting to know our feedback about the
experience. This former CPA turned spa entrepreneur shows a real
knack for service and attention to detail.
In addition to the suite, The Village Spa has three other charming
rooms where services range from various types of massage, body
treatments and facials.
What is particularly unique about this spa besides the suite
that feels like you are in a hotel room with amenities, is the
fact that the village spa features couples services and ladies’
night out-where women come for an evening and occupy the entire
spa for any services listed on the menu. Also, the place has
a feel of a combination of L.A. and N.Y.C.
The experience is a great way to get away from the pace of
everyday life and for a couple, a chance to get to know each
other again.
We would absolutely recommend this spa.
