For those of you not familiar with Long Island, Historic Roslyn is one of those charming villages that dot the Island's Gold Coast. It's a little Gatsby-esque with a duck pond in the middle of the town and centuries-old houses(even mansions) lining the streets.

Rick Joseph was far ahead of his time when he fitted out his Alfa Romeo with a television set (long before it became mainstream). Now he has used the same combination of innovation and quality in his day spa in historic Roslyn, NY. The Village Spa is a unique concept that provides a luxurious getaway for up to a number of hours.

The spa is many things: a playground for adults, who can hold parties, enjoy treatments and book time afterwards simply to enjoy undisturbed time alone or with a friend/partner, eating exquisite meals & decadent desserts served room service style, drinking wine/champagne or tea, enjoying music,experiencing movies in surround sound in multiple formats-DVD/Blue-Ray/Apple TV, playing board games or cards, blowing bubbles (yes, bubbles), or just chatting.

The spa has two suites, each including a treatment room, thermostatic controlled shower w/multiple heads or jets, dressing room, and an area to dine & relax with TV/DVDs, etc. One of the suites even has a private infrared sauna. Another has a 3D TV and a 92" projector screen.

Day Spas have popped up all over the Island in the past number of years, perfect for a quick massage or facial and a brief respite during the week. Now the sybaritic are booking spa appointments for ladies' night out and date nights, savoring treatments for two instead of just going out for dinner and a movie.

Rick Joseph, the owner of the spa, said that the grown-up toys & games are definitely a part of the indulgence when asked where do they apply? "This is a total experience," Mr. Joseph said.

"Of course, many of our clients come to the spa for just a massage or facial or whatever we offer and get to experience pampering, relaxation, a little bit of luxury, and even possibly a feeling of being away for an hour or so." Every service comes with a 15 minute private wind-down in the suite with a plush warmed neck wrap, a delicious essential oil scented marble foot soak, a glass of champagne or wine or tea. The spa also has luxurious robes & slippers. "And that's great that in this scenario the client doesn't require anything more to have a wonderful experience."
